Compatibility of “3M™-Light Water™ with DR.STHAMER HAMBURG” Products
Dr. Sthamer – Hamburg supplies officially approved 3M™ Light Water™ compatible foam concentrates.
Supported by 3M™, Dr. STHAMER – HAMBURG has developed alternative products of the four most important 3M™ Light Water™ foam concentrates the miscibility of which has officially been tested and confirmed.
Fire performance and long-term miscibility has been confirmed for blends of the following Dr. STHAMER foam concentrates with the equivalent Light Water™ products:

Fluorosurfactants
on the occasion of the present discussion on fluorosurfactants caused by 3M™’s decision to discontinue their perfluorooctanyl chemistry we would like to explain
our position as manufacturer of fire extinguishing foam concentrates.
As you are aware, some of our products contain fluorosurfactants. These are all STHAMEX-AFFF and MOUSSOL-APS types, FLUOR-FOAMOUSSE as well as FOAMOUSSE-FFFP.
According to an information made available to us by our suppliers, the fluoro-surfactants we use are manufactured by means of a production process different from the one 3M™ has been operating.
As we learned, 3M™’s manufacturing of fluoro-chemicals is based on an electro-chemical process producing perfluorooctanyl sulfonates ( PFOS ) which serves as starting product of numerous final products and traces of which were found in the blood of humans.
The fluorinated agents utilized by us are manufactured by means of a telomerization process where tetrafluoroethylene ( TFE ) is used as raw material for further products. According to an information by our suppliers none of their toxicological studies indicates that products produced by telomerization process are found in human blood.
None of the foam concentrates manufactured by us contain PFOS - based surfactants and therefore are not affected in any respect by the 3M™ measure.
